Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was authored by J.K. Rowling and published in 2014. It's current location is Xanthe's Bookshelf.
Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!
This is a moment and I do love this series but as you get older you can step back and look at the flaws. Objectively the Harry Potter series is not a five-star read but it becomes a five star because of all of the memories and emotions associated with it. Also, J.K. Rowling is not it as a person, she could have grown, she could have learnt how she was negatively impacting the Transgender community and instead she doubled down, is releasing or has released a book that perpetuates stereotypes and attitudes that are DANGEROUS for this community. Has J.K. seen how many Transgender people were murdered in the US this year alone?? Her beliefs are dangerous and they kill this community. So while I love this series, I can no longer support the author or anything that might possibly give her money. I hope to send a message to the people around me that Transgender people are valid and they are loved, and one of these actions I must take is to not support her.
